Qualoo’s Privacy Policy

Last Updated: 23rd Jan 2025

1. Introduction

Qualoo (“we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share data from users of our mobile application (the “App”), including network performance data and crypto activities. By using the App, you agree to this Policy.

2. What We Collect

  1. Network & Device Information: IP addresses, approximate location, telecom operator details, OS version, and basic device metrics (e.g., device model, network type).
  2. Network Performance Data: Results from speed tests, traceroutes, DNS lookups, ping measurements and other similar ones.
  3. Blockchain Data: We will use blockchain technologies as audit trails, so certain performance metrics or timestamps will be recorded securely for verification. Once the relevant hash is on-chain, it cannot be deleted or altered.
  4. Crypto Wallet Info: We may collect non-personal usage analytics about how you interact with the wallet (e.g., the number of transactions), but we do not store your private keys or seed phrases on our servers.
  5. No Intentional Collection of Personal Data: We only collect information required for network mapping and performance measurement, which does not include personally identifiable details. You can provide a name (which may be an alias) to display in the app if you wish. We require an email address only to create an account—unless you choose to log in with an existing crypto wallet, in which case no email is necessary. We do not request any other personal information. However, please note that in some jurisdictions, IP addresses and location data are considered personal information. We do not use them for personal identification; they are strictly for testing and mapping purposes.

3. Why We Collect Data

  • Network Analysis: To measure connectivity quality, identify coverage gaps, and generate aggregated insights.
  • Rewards: To administer any points or incentives tied to network testing and activity on Qualoo.
  • Service Improvements: To refine and enhance the App’s functionality, including diagnosing issues or optimizing performance
  • Blockchain Verification: To ensure the integrity and transparency of certain data (e.g., timestamp proofs).
  • Usage Analytics: Non-personal, aggregated data helps us understand usage patterns and improve user experience.

4. Legal Bases for Processing

  1. Consent: Where required by local law, we rely on your opt-in consent (e.g., background location access).
  2. Legitimate Interest: In some cases, we process data to further our legitimate interests in improving the App or providing analytics, without overriding user rights.
  3. Compliance with Law: We may also process or disclose data to comply with applicable regulations or law enforcement requests.

5. How We Use & Share Data

  1. Aggregated Insights: We may share anonymized or aggregated performance metrics with telecom operators, regulators, or research partners.
  2. Third-Party Service Providers: We use secure hosting services, analytics tools, or other third parties to process data on our behalf under strict confidentiality.
  3. Blockchain Community: Data stored on a public (or private) blockchain is visible to anyone with blockchain access.
  4. Legal Obligations: We may disclose data if legally required or if needed to protect our rights, users, or the public.

6. International Transfers

Because we operate globally, your data may be transferred to servers or third parties in different countries, some of which may not offer the same legal protections as your home jurisdiction. We take steps (like contractual safeguards) to ensure data is handled securely and in compliance with relevant regulations.

7. Data Retention & Security

  1. Retention Periods: We keep raw network data only as long as necessary for the purposes stated, then either anonymize or delete it. However, blockchain entries are typically permanent.
  2. Security Measures: We employ physical, technical, and administrative safeguards to protect data. No system is 100% secure, so please keep your device and wallet credentials safe.

8. Your Rights & Choices

  1. Opt-Out of Location: You can disable location permissions in your device settings. Note that this will reduce the App’s functionality.
  2. Withdraw Consent: If you previously granted permission (e.g., for background operations), you can withdraw it at any time via your device settings or uninstalling the app.
  3. Data Subject Rights: Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access, rectification, erasure, or restriction of your data. You may also be able to object to processing or request data portability.
  4. Blockchain Limitation: We cannot remove or alter data that is already recorded on a blockchain.
  5. Children: The App is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

9. Regional Disclosures

  1. European Economic Area (EEA), UK & Brazil: You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
  2. California (CCPA/CPRA): We do not sell personal data. You can request access to or deletion of your data (subject to verification of identity and certain legal exceptions).
  3. Other Jurisdictions: We strive to comply with local privacy laws. If you have any concerns, please contact us directly in the email below.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. The “Last Updated” date at the top indicates the latest revision. Continuing to use the App after any modifications indicates acceptance of those changes.
